.Net Frameword

Problem

You are trying to install .Net Framework 3.5 on a Windows 2012 server and receive an error about specifying the source for the installation

Solution

Windows 2012 .Net Framework 3.5.1 is a feature on demand and to install it you need to manually specify the path to the SxS folder where necessary files can be found here’s the command to use from an elevated Command prompt

dism.exe /Online /Enable-Feature /All /FeatureName:NetFX3 /Source:D:sourcessxs

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031

Enabling feature(s)
[==========================100.0%==========================]
The operation completed successfully.

If you prefer to use the GUI in the feature installation wizard you can specify an alternate path for the SxS folder clicking on the Specify an alternate source path link as in the picture below
