SCCM Failed to Create Assembly Name Object for microsoft.updateservices

SCCM Error Message

Scenario

You have an SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 hierarchy where you have deployed the Software Update Point if you open the WSUSCTRL.log or the WCM.log the following error is logged

[su_quote]Failed to create assembly name object for Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration. Error = 0x80131701[/su_quote].

Failed to create assembly

Solution

Unfortunately there is no real solution to the above issue, after analysis and speaking with a Microsoft representative it turns out the above error is a known bug in ConfigMgr 2012 R2 SP1 (all previous builds are not affected) but is unharmful so despite it will be logged every hour or so you can ignore as Software Updates Deployment will continue to work without any impact to the process.
